Yesterday, we (60 Decibels) got this lovely email from a reader of our newsletter, The Volume
Typically love this newsletter, however this edition feels clearly written / strongly edited by AI and doesn’t have your typical voice / tone. I’d personally appreciate more typos and less polished writing as it makes me feel I am connecting with you on the other side.
Here’s the thing:
- It wasn’t written / strongly edited by AI. I know this because I was heavily involved in the editing process.
- That really doesn’t matter. What matters is the reader’s experience.
I noticed today that renewable energy just surpassed coal in terms of global percentage of energy production. AI has also just surpassed humans in terms of “when you read clean, polished writing, who do you think wrote it?”
It’s always been essential to show up in a personal, honest, imperfect way.
The question has become: how hard will we need to push on that imperfection to communicate “It’s me. Really. I’m still here, talking to you. I swear.”
Vry imperfect, I suspect.
